Recently, computational intelligence solutions giant Altair launched HyperWorks 2024, an AI-powered engineering and simulation platform for its customers which integrates AI across the product lifecycle, claiming faster design exploration, efficient thermal analysis, and rapid behaviour prediction.
It offers AI-embedded workflows, HPC environments, photorealistic graphics, Python and C++ scripting, generative design, and meshless ECAD simulation to boost productivity and streamline engineering workflows.
Gilma Saravia, the chief people officer of Altair told AIM in an exclusive interaction that the company is planning to expand its footprint in India and hiring for multiple roles in AI and analytics. It is also offering internship roles.
Skills Needed
Altair seeks individuals who are up for innovation and continuous learning. Specifically, for data science roles, the ideal candidates should be able to design and build systems for collecting, storing, and analysing data at scale and be good at improving data reliability and quality.
They should be skilled in building data pipelines, data preparation, data modelling, model validation, and deployment.
“We assess their (candidates) case studies and code completion assessments, as well as domain expertise to understand their level of technical proficiency. It’s through this assessment of their skills in statistics, programming, ML, and data visualisation that provide us the best understanding of where we can place the candidate,” she added.
Interview Process
“The interview process at Altair is designed to identify candidates who align with the company’s core values: envisioning the future, seeking technological and business firsts, communicating broadly and honestly, and embracing diversity and risk-taking,” added Saravia.
Initial Screening: Evaluation of candidates’ experience and domain expertise.
Technical Evaluations: A series of technical assessments focusing on coding, model building, and problem-solving abilities.
Behavioural Assessments: Evaluation of candidates’ fit with Altair’s culture and core values.
Project-Specific Questions: Tailored inquiries to assess applied skills in machine learning algorithms, statistical modelling, and domain-specific knowledge.
Practical Exercises: Candidates are tested on their practical coding and modelling skills, including code snippet completion, data preprocessing, and model optimisation.
The company expects candidates to have a customer-focused outlook, the ability to think complexly yet arrive at simple solutions, and a deep curiosity for exploring beyond the obvious. In return, it offers competitive rewards, flexible work schedules, and ample opportunities for career development.
“We also greatly value an entrepreneurial spirit and team members who are always looking forward to new ideas and challenges. Candidates who are not able to envision the future or who do not possess a “problem-solving mindset” may not qualify as a top candidate in the process” Gilma concluded.
